well,

Ten days until I take off for Korea! I had my visa interview in Chicago this past weekend. It was quite an interesting weekend.

Isn't it funny how things bubble up to the surface? I hadn't even realized it, but I was clenching onto fear so tightly; they were fears about living in Korea, about work, about friendships - pretty much about everything. I was believing lie after lie that the enemy was throwing at me. But it took just a few simple but powerful words of truth to shed light on my situation. God is so good, and we have nothing to fear. He is high, lofty, and powerful, yet he loves us so much. We have to remember where we are in comparison to God - we are only human, and he's huge!

Don't get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you're going. And don't for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed. Haven't I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don't be timid; don't get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.
[from Joshua 1, The Message]

There is no guarantee that we will have success in this life. There's definitely no guarantee that things will go our way, but God is in control, and our eternal great reward is guaranteed.

p.s. I finally got a haircut.
